On Wednesday 22nd August, members of Holywell Town Council presented the new Electric car charging installation, which sits in the lower carpark near the Tower Gardens subway.

“It is believed to be the first Town Centre charging point in Flintshire” according to a statement made on the Town Council’s Facebook page, where they thanked Tesco and their support using the Bags of help scheme.

We spoke to Howard Jones, Director of All Electric Contractors Ltd in Greenfield, whose firm installed the charging point this week

“As part of the government’s energy and pollution measures, there is a grant scheme available to homeowners/businesses who meet certain criteria. Through the use of an approved installer such as All Electric, they are able to have a charge point installed for electric vehicle charging and benefit from a government contribution of up to £500 for domestic and £300 for workplace installations. Recently we have installed a point at Polyroof Products in Flint where the management are helping to further their environmental responsibilities through the promotion of EV usage and have a Workplace charge point in place for such vehicles.
The charge point going live in Holywell, with the assistance of funding from Tesco’s, is the first to be available within a Flintshire town centre for public use and Holywell Town Council are pleased that this is going to give consumers another reason to visit the town.”
