Holywell Entered into The Great British High Street Awards

Holywell Town Council has announced it has entered The Great British High Street Awards 2018

The awards, which are run by the Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government, sponsored by Visa and backed by other partners, recognise and celebrate local achievements on our high streets and support the communities in which we live and work.

"The high street is the life and soul of communities across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, and whether urban, market town or village, all can highlight their achievements by entering the GBHS Awards to be named the UK’s best high street. The Awards will also celebrate those individual businesses and people who are playing a leading role in making our high streets special, through the High Street Hero Award."

This year there are two categories – the Champion Award and the Rising Star Award. So, whether your local high street is already a huge success, or they are planning on becoming one – get involved!

There is also an additional High Street Heroes Award, to celebrate those exceptional individuals within your community

With winners being named from each of the four UK nations across both categories. The Champion High Street category will recognise the nation's best high streets whilst the Rising Star High Street category, sponsored by SumUp, will recognise the nation's most ambitious high streets, which are taking the lead and working together to revive, adapt and diversify.

An overall High Street of the Year in Great Britain and Northern Ireland will also be named.

Shortlisted finalists will be invited to an awards ceremony in London in November celebrating the high streets that are succeeding and influencing change.

In addition Visa GBHS Street Teams will be visiting randomly selected high streets during the Awards to promote entered high streets and surprise and delight local businesses and consumers with activities and giveaways.

High streets that enter are eligible to win up to £10,000 for their local community, plus the opportunity for their local businesses and consumers to participate in a Visa GBHS Spend & Win Competition, which rewards the people that make our high streets so special. - (GBHS website)

"Look for the shops who take card payments and be in with a chance to win £100 when you spend £10 or more on your VISA card!" - Holywell Town Council

More information about what you can do to support this entry will be published in Septembers Magazine
